Through all of our Key Stages we have a focus on the holistic child and the life-long learner. This ethos and continuity of practise unites all three Key Stages in to our "Small School - Big Family."
EYFS comprises Pre-Nursery (2-3yrs), Nursery (3-4yrs), and Reception (4-5yrs). Each class is run by a class teacher, supported by class assistants and helpers, and is monitored by the Early Years Development Team.
The 8Cs' form the foundation of the educational journey that our children make:
Critical Thinking - having the ability to solve problems and think independently.
We teach these skills through the EYFS curriculum, Development Matters, which is split into seven interrelated key areas of learning:
This framework is used in conjunction with the rest of our curriculum policies and school procedures to ensure that your child's formative years and their time at Nadeen is safe, exciting, engaging, and rewarding. Our holistic, child-centred approach to learning is always at the forefront of our teaching and learning. Through indoor and outdoor learning areas, the children discover, explore, investigate, and consolidate their developing skills and understanding through child-initiated, teacher-initiated and teacher-led activities. We have a lot of hands-on, practical activities throughout the day in all areas of the school, targeting different learning areas, and our teachers have a creative approach to learning.
Our EYFS children are fully integrated in to our school life. The older children from KS1 and KS2 regularly act as "buddies" to our younger children, helping them with reading, story-telling, and activities.
One of our 8Cs is communication. We use a number of different platforms to communicate with parents (such as Class Dojo, email and Classe365) because we believe that home / school communication is essential to ensure good learning. We have an open door policy at the school, meaning that parents can meet with class teachers and school leaders formally and informally on a regular basis. We encourage parents to come in to school and get involved with their child's learning.
