Mr. James’ Weekly Reflection – 13th February

Dear Nadeen Family,

Firstly, I want to take a moment to celebrate Alex in Year 7.3, who, during this half term break, is taking on the incredible challenge of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro. His determination and adventurous spirit are truly inspiring, and we are all cheering him on as he embarks on this remarkable journey!

I also wanted to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude for the warmth and positivity you bring to our school. Seeing parents regularly in school, engaging with such enthusiasm, and simply enjoying ‘being present’ in our community fills my heart with joy. The sense of connection and belonging that radiates from our coffee shop gatherings is truly special, and I deeply appreciate how lovely and supportive you are to both myself and my team.

This week, we also held two coffee shop drop-ins for our Year 7 and Year 8 parents as well as a fab group of mums who met Shanee and myself. Thank you to those who attended and contributed to the conversations. These informal sessions provide a valuable opportunity to connect and share insights, and your engagement is greatly appreciated. In addition, our “Coffee with the Vice Principal” session focused on data, curriculum, and assessment, providing a deeper understanding of how we track and support our learners’ progress. Your interest and participation in these discussions help shape a stronger learning experience for all. This was something that was highlighted when I came to meet you the community in the summer before I joined and I hope you can see this as a Ýou said, we did’ moment.

It has been a dynamic and eventful week at Nadeen:

House Sports Week saw learners from Year 3 to Year 10 showcasing their skills and teamwork in football, netball, and ultimate frisbee. The energy and sportsmanship displayed were inspiring to watch!

Children’s Mental Health Week has provided meaningful experiences for our learners. From well-being and mindfulness activities in classrooms to morning yoga led by Ms. Samreen, it has been wonderful to see learners engaging in practices that support their emotional and mental well-being. Further, a professional from Kim’s Health will be speaking to our Secondary learners in their assembly about the importance of mental health, an invaluable opportunity for our learners to consider an important topic. .

Year 6 parents had the pleasure of learning about myths and legends from around the world of which some mentioned to me they had never heard of before! To be honest neither had I! Learners spoke with confidence and enthusiasm, sharing their home learning projects, which demonstrated fantastic enquiry skills and strategic planning. If they can do this in year 6 imagine what they will be capable of when they are 26 – woah!

Year 4 learners had an inspiring immersion in art this week and a big thank you to Zolt for coming to visit me and show me his self portrait. What an artist you are Zolt! Sally Moussa captivated them with her stunning wildlife photography, and they had the chance to visit the Al Riwaq Art Gallery in Manama. Additionally, a fantastic portrait workshop

A big thank you to the Friends of Nadeen for all their support and to the amazing Kirstin for the role she takes on within that group. You are all awesome!

As we head into a half-term break, please do take some time out to decompress, and I hope my staffing team do the same as they certainly deserve to. Perhaps over the break, utilise Century Tech for a short time daily and catch up on some reading time, which is what I will be doing with my little Gracie.

Moments like these remind me of the power of community, the joy of learning and what it means to have the opportunity to be an educator. Thank you for your ongoing support, participation, and kindness. We look forward to many more wonderful experiences together.
