Mr. James’ Weekly Reflection – 18 September

Dear Nadeen Family,

This week has been full of wonderful moments of connection and celebration, both inside and outside the classroom. We began with our ‘Meet the VP’ sessions for Primary and Secondary, which gave parents the chance to hear more about our vision, ask questions, and share their thoughts. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us, your positive feedback and engagement are invaluable as we continue to grow Nadeen together.

Walking through the corridors later in the week, I found myself drawn into the warm buzz of our Year 1 and Year 2 phonics sessions. The learners’ faces lit up as they proudly invited me into their learning world, sounding out letters, explaining their thinking, and beaming with the confidence that comes from truly enjoying the process. It was one of those moments that captures the very heart of Nadeen: children happy, engaged, and eager to share their journey with others. #TheNadeenWay

Our Arabic Department has also been particularly busy this week. Preparations are underway for the upcoming Quran and Recitation competitions, which are nationwide events. What an amazing opportunity for our learners to shine. In addition, the department has introduced a dictation routine across all year groups to strengthen writing and spelling, and they have been proactive in sending out two parent surveys to gain feedback and further enhance their provision. We are grateful for the strong partnership between home and school in this area. It is also wonderful to see the growing popularity of Mandarin lessons in year 7 as our learners are embracing new languages and cultures with such curiosity and enthusiasm.

A big congratulations goes to all learners who applied for Head Boy, Head Girl, and other leadership positions. It takes courage to put yourself forward, and every applicant should be proud. We are delighted to announce that Abdelrahman Omera and Jude Al Hadidi will be our Head Boy and Head Girl this year. They will represent the learner voice and lead by example through teamwork, responsibility, and initiative. Alongside them, our wider learner leadership team will include roles such as Sustainability Leader, Sports Leader, Events Leader, Learner Support Leader, Community and Service Leader, and Arts and Culture Leader. These young leaders will have a real impact in shaping and supporting our community, which is super exciting.

Another highlight was the launch of our Thrive Swimming Sessions in partnership with 24N. Ms. Katie, our Thrive Co-ordinator, and Mr. Matt, our Head of PE, shared how successful and joyful the first sessions were. This initiative is a fantastic example of child-centred provision, helping our learners build skills, confidence, and most importantly, a love for swimming.

Looking ahead, we are excited about our Beach Clean Up this Saturday in Amwaj. This initiative is a wonderful way for the Nadeen community to come together in support of our environment and local area. We hope to see a great turnout and know that, just like in school, our learners will show responsibility, teamwork, and care for the world around them.

It has truly been a week of growth, celebration, and community. What connects each of these moments are the Nadeen Values, Attitudes, and Attributes we see alive in our learners every day: confidence in phonics, curiosity in languages, leadership through responsibility, and collaboration in the pool. These are the qualities that make Nadeen such a special place for our children to learn and thrive.
