This week at Nadeen | 21 May 2026

Dear Nadeen Family,
Welcome to this week’s update.
As we look ahead, we would like to remind families that school will be closed for Eid Al Adha from Tuesday 26th May until Sunday 31st May (inclusive). We hope this break provides a special opportunity for rest, reflection and time with loved ones. We look forward to welcoming learners back refreshed and ready for the final weeks of term.
Our school has been buzzing with learning, creativity and celebration and we are proud to share a snapshot of this week’s moments with you below.
Primary update from Ms. Lianne
This week has once again been filled with exciting learning experiences and opportunities to celebrate our learners across Nadeen School.
A huge well done to all of the children who took part in our Primary Spelling Bee competition this week. We are incredibly proud of every learner who showed the courage and confidence to stand up and participate. The standard was exceptionally high, and it was wonderful to see children of all ages challenging themselves and supporting one another throughout the competition. We look forward to celebrating our Spelling Bee winners during Sunday’s assembly.
I am also thoroughly enjoying hearing the children share their “King and Queen of the Road” stories with me as we continue to promote road safety across the school. It has been fantastic to hear how learners are thinking more carefully about staying safe, fastening seatbelts and making sensible choices when travelling on scooters and bikes. Thank you for continuing to reinforce these important messages at home.
Last week, our Year 5 learners were busy creating some delicious bread as part of their learning. After spending several days enjoying the wonderful smell of fresh bread drifting into my office, I was finally fortunate enough to be invited to their tasting session this week. The children confidently explained the reasoning behind their recipes and the ingredients they had chosen, and it was fascinating to sample some very creative and thoughtful bread combinations. Experiences like these bring learning to life and create memorable opportunities for our learners to apply their knowledge in meaningful ways.
We are aware that many parents are beginning to look ahead to the next academic year and may have questions about the future direction of the Primary School. To support this, Ms Suzanne and I will be holding a parent information session on Monday 25th May from 1.15pm to 2pm.
This will be an opportunity to celebrate this year’s many achievements, share our key priorities and areas of focus for next year, and hear your ideas and suggestions as valued members of our school community. We very much hope you will be able to join us and kindly ask that you confirm your attendance here.
Finally, we will also be hosting our Early Years Learn Together Event on Monday 25th May from 8.15am to 9.15am where you will experience our approach to teaching Early Literacy Skills.
Secondary update from Mr. Paul
It has been an inspiring and energetic week in the Secondary School at Nadeen, showcasing the incredible talents, creativity and spirit of our learners.
A standout highlight was the Art Exhibition, which brought together an impressive collection of work from learners across the school, from Key Stage 3 through to Year 11 GCSE. The exhibition was a true celebration of creativity, with a diverse range of styles, techniques and personal expression on display. The event was made even more special by live musical performances from our talented learners, creating a wonderful atmosphere for all who attended. Guests also enjoyed a fantastic selection of food, thoughtfully prepared and presented by our GCSE learners, adding another layer of learner-led excellence to the evening. A huge thank you to Ms. Rien for all her efforts.
We are also incredibly proud of Reem and Ali in Year 7, who represented Nadeen in the Mandarin Chinese Bridge Competition. Reem delivered a beautiful violin performance, while Ali impressed with a dynamic Kung Fu display. Both learners demonstrated confidence, cultural appreciation and outstanding commitment. Well done to them both.
Looking ahead, we are excited to see a team of Nadeen staff taking part in the One Run Bahrain 5km relay run at the F1 track this Saturday at 6.30pm. We encourage our community to come along, show their support and cheer on the Nadeen team as they represent the school with pride. Hopefully, we will not be too sore on Sunday morning!
Thrive update from Ms. Suzanne
Over the past few weeks, walking through classrooms, listening to learners read, watching small-group sessions, and simply stopping to chat with children around the school, one thing has stood out so clearly — confidence is growing.
The BELL Programme for EAL is having a meaningful impact on our learners, with many making better-than-expected progress from their starting points. Through the SWIRL approach — Speaking, Writing, Interacting, Reading and Listening — children are developing language naturally through interaction, conversation, collaboration and purposeful learning experiences, alongside dedicated, focused small-group teaching and in-class support that carefully builds vocabulary, confidence, comprehension and communication skills over time.
What has been especially lovely to see is that learners are not just developing English fluency — they are developing their voice. We are seeing children participate more confidently in class discussions, share ideas during Celebrations of Learning, take part in events like the Spelling Bee, and contribute with increasing independence and pride.
Very importantly, home language continues to be celebrated as something precious. There is something incredibly special about hearing many languages across a school, whilst also watching children grow steadily in confidence, connection and belonging.
See you next week…or as we would hear across our community:

Parent Board Nominations – Deadline Approaching
A reminder that nominations are still open for our School Parent Board (SPB), which represents the voice of our parent community and works in partnership with school leadership.
The SPB plays an important advisory role, offering feedback, supporting school development and acting as ambassadors for Nadeen. We are looking for parents who are passionate about the school and willing to contribute their time, perspective and expertise.
Nominations close on Saturday 23rd May at 3.00pm.
If you would like to put yourself forward, please complete the nomination form and submit a short biography (100–150 words). When applying, please select the year group your child will be in for the 2026/2027 academic year.
We warmly encourage parents from all phases to consider getting involved and helping to shape the future of Nadeen. For any questions, please contact Amanda at principalpa@nadeenschool.com.
