Mr. James’ Weekly Reflection – 25 September

Dear Nadeen Family,

What a week of learning, celebration, and connection we’ve had at Nadeen!

We kicked off with World Peace Day, where our learners led a beautiful assembly sharing their ideas about what peace means to them. Throughout the day, there were activities, reflections, and conversations that showed just how thoughtful, empathetic, and collaborative our learners are. The Arabic Department added even more creativity with peace messages, dove cut-outs, and videos of learners sharing their own definitions of peace, what a brilliant showcase of valuing diversity and concern for society, key attributes we encourage through our HPL approach.

On Tuesday 22nd September, the celebrations continued with Saudi National Day. Learners enjoyed exploring the traditions and culture of our neighbours, a perfect opportunity to build global citizenship and learn from the world around us.

A big thank you goes to our secondary team for hosting the GCSE Information Evening. It was fantastic to see so many parents join us, and the positive feedback has been wonderful to hear. It’s a reminder of how far we’ve come as a school, and how quickly our curriculum has grown to offer such a flexible, ambitious, and diverse range of pathways for our learners. Thank you also to Mr. Matt, who has organised the Ski Trip to Italy, and it’s already full! Mamma Mia! Trips like this are more than just fun; they build confidence, resilience, and agility in thought, giving learners experiences that stay with them for life.

Meanwhile, our MFL department has been busily preparing for World Languages Day today. We can’t wait to celebrate the richness of language and culture, both here at Nadeen and across the globe. Learning languages isn’t just about communication, it’s about unlocking new ways of seeing the world, fostering empathy, and connecting across borders.

A highlight this week was welcoming Dr. Ali Bekki to address our secondary learners in assembly. His talk on the diversity of languages was inspiring, and I loved his point that each language opens a window to understanding, empathy, and opportunity. The live demonstrations of Chinese and Arabic calligraphy were especially mesmerising, what an incredible display of creative and enterprising thinking.

All in all, this week was a true reflection of what we stand for at Nadeen: celebrating culture, valuing diversity, and pushing ourselves to be the very best learners and leaders we can be.
