Mr. James’ Weekly Reflection – 29th May

Dear Nadeen Family,

What a lovely week it has been at Nadeen! As always, it’s a true pleasure to walk around the school and witness so much joy, creativity, and celebration of learning in every corner.

This week has been packed with wonderful highlights. Year 5’s bread-making was a treat, especially with our brave parents taking on the blind taste test challenge. Thank you for joining in the fun! Year 4 amazed us with their fantastic Stone Age exhibition, complete with huts and beautifully crafted jewellery. Meanwhile, Year 3 have been showcasing their vibrant rainforest dioramas and impactful posters raising awareness about protecting our planet. Over in Year 6, our learners shared their impressive 3D passports to the world, reflecting thoughtfully on sustainability and the future.

A big thank you to all who supported and participated in our Netfest, which was brilliantly organised by Ms. Kate and Ms. Alex. It was wonderful to see healthy competition and fun, perhaps even a little rivalry, between Mr. Matt and Mr. Kyle! Mr. Matt may have taken the win this time, but Mr. Kyle certainly made a comeback later during the evening One Run Bahrain event.

Our swimming galas have been equally inspiring. I’ve been so impressed, not only by the high level of swimming but also by the strong sense of team spirit shown by our learners. A huge thank you to our fantastic PE team, who continue to shine brightly every week. On that note, congratulations to our Boys U13 Basketball team, who secured a brilliant 2nd place finish in their tournament, well done!

This week also marked another significant milestone in our professional learning journey. Building on the success of our previous TeachMeets, we were proud to launch a dedicated Early Years spin-off event. Designed to deepen collaboration and celebrate the importance of playful learning, the event was a resounding success. Under the theme “From Play to Progress: Sharing the Power of Playful Learning,” educators from across Bahrain came together to explore practical, inspiring approaches to play-based learning. From exploring learner voice to using music and communication rich environments, every session was filled with insight and energy. Our mainstage speakers led powerful discussions on topics such as the value of risky play in building resilience, and posed reflective questions like “Who’s in your sandbox?” This encourages us all to think about how we design and listen with, and like, our children.

A special thank you to our amazing Early Years team and Ms. Kacey, Ms. Kathleen McEwan, Ms. Janine, Mr. Chris, Mr. Tom, Ms. Emma and Ms. Suzanne. You are simply incredible. Your passion, creativity, and commitment to our youngest learners are truly appreciated, and I am so grateful for everything you bring to Nadeen.

And finally, today is our High Performance Learning Accreditation day, wish us luck!
